Greens announce candidates for May 2nd County Council elections

8 March 2013

The Greens are once again fielding a full slate and are campaigning hard to win their first county seat in Witham Northern Division where in 2009 the Green candidate Cllr. James Abbott came second (see attached graph).

Green Party Leader Natalie Bennett (1) is due to visit Witham on April 12th to support the election campaign.

The Greens are aiming to stand a candidate in every seat in the Essex County Council area, offering voters a clear alternative choice at a time when many people have become disillusioned with the "main three" parties due to the dire economic situation, cuts to public services (especially highways) and repeated scandals. Green County Councillors would lead a "Clean up County Hall" drive to fully expose the expenses culture under Lord Hanningfield, open up all council meetings to public participation and reduce top councillor allowances which are the highest in East Anglia.

Green candidate list:

Braintree District

Cllr. James Abbott - Witham Northern

Cllr. Philip Hughes - Witham Southern

Tim Reeve - Braintree Town

Cllr. Bob Wright - Three Fields with Great Notley

John Malam - Braintree Eastern

Steve Hicks – Halstead

Andrea Bunn – Bocking

Joyce Wells – Hedingham

Maldon District

Janet Carden – Maldon

Bob Graves – Heybridge and Tollesbury
