Nominations have now closed for candidates to stand in the 3 Braintree by-elections. The elections will take place on March 15th, to fill vacancies on Braintree District Council caused by the resignation of 3 Conservative councillors.
Maintaining its long running policy of contesting by-elections, the Green Party is to contest all 3 elections.
Wendy Partridge will be the Green candidate in Braintree East, Tim Reeve in Braintree South and Lynne Maynard in Great Notley and Braintree West ward.
The Greens will be offering a clear alternative to the "main" parties, particularly as once again there will be no Lib Dem candidates.
5 Key Green policies will be:
Maintaining and improving local community and health facilities
Opposing excessive development - particularly on greenfield sites
Better transport - more capacity on the Braintree branch line and safety improvements to local roads and the A120
Investing in the green economy - more recycling and solar energy
Restoring faith in politics - honesty, openness and reducing excessive councillor allowances
