Nominations are now complete for the May 5th Braintree District Council elections. The Green Party is standing a record 22 candidates in the elections, giving most voters in the southern and central parts of the district, including all wards in Braintree and Witham, a Green choice on the ballot paper.
By contrast the Lib Dems are standing just 8 candidates.
The Greens currently hold 2 District seats and are looking to increase this number, particularly focussing in and around Witham where in 2009, across the 2 Witham County Divisions, the Greens came second, ahead of both Labour and the Lib Dems.
There are 7 Green Party candidates, covering all 4 wards for Witham Town Council, on which the Greens currently have 3 seats.
The Greens will be publishing a list of 10 key Pledges for the elections, focussing on supporting local communities and protecting the environment.
