Witham South Town Council by-election result

The Witham South Town Council by-election result was:

• Con 261 (37.0%)
• Lab 249 (35.3%)
• Joyce Wells - GREEN 151 (21.4%)
• Lib Dem 45 (6.4%)

Joyce Wells thanks all who voted for her in the by-election.

Cllr. James Abbott of Witham and Braintree Green Party said

"This was a solid result for the Greens - we think probably our best by-election result in Witham to date.

With this being a multi member ward, at the full elections next May this level of support would put us in the frame to hold our current Town Councillor in South Ward and potentially gain a seat.

Many voters told us on the doorstep they would be voting Green because of the huge development pressures being put on Witham South. We will continue to campaign against the over-development of Witham and the surrounding villages."
