There is to be a by-election on Thurday 21st October to fill a vacancy on Witham Town Council
The Green Party candidate is Joyce Wells. Joyce has lived in Witham South Ward for many years. She is a nurse working in the NHS. Joyce is keen to get more involved in community issues and help residents.
The Greens are campaigning strongly against massive development plans for Witham which a series of public consultations has shown local residents want withdrawn.
This by-election is an opportunity to send a strong message to the "powers that be" that the overdevelopment of Witham has to stop.
Electing a Green Councillor will send that message. Electing a Labour or Tory councillor will not - their existing Braintree District Councillors on the Panel deciding the development plans ALL voted for the "Growth Locations" of 900 houses on greenfield sites around Witham - 600 of them in South Ward.
