The pictures show how the giant chimney of the incinerator would loom large over surrounding countryside for miles around. Local residents and wildlife would be exposed to the fumes that would be emitted. Local parish and district councillors, landowners and residents have given up their time to help compile a photographic record of the airfield and surrounding countryside, of which these images are just a part. The full set of images has been submitted to Essex County Council. Any of the images are freely available by e-mail in full format on request to James Abbott (01376 584576).
The scale of destruction to woodland and natural habitats is also evident.
Councillors James Abbott and Phil Hughes have spent many years fighting against Essex County Councils proposals to built a waste incinerator on the former airfield at Rivenhall. Cllr James Abbott will be standing for the elections to Essex County Council on June 4th and will be hoping to take the fight into the corridors of County Hall.
