Green Party Policies

The Green Party aims to create a just, equitable and sustainable society. We focus our efforts primarily, though not exclusively, through the electoral system.

Read the Green Party Policies on this page.

Ten Core Values

The Green Party isn't just another political party. Green politics is a new and radical kind of politics guided by ten core principles.

Read them here.

Philosophical Basis

A system based on inequality and exploitation is threatening the future of the planet on which we depend, and encouraging reckless and environmentally damaging consumerism.

A world based on cooperation and democracy would prioritise the many, not the few, and would not risk the planet’s future with environmental destruction and unsustainable consumption.

Read the Philosophical Basis here.

Green Party policy is written and decided democratically by its members (become a member of the Green Party), usually at Conference, but there is a process and rules to follow. Our Policy Development Coordinator, Policy Committee and our Policy Research Officers are there to facilitate and advise on improving our policies. Feel free to contact us at policy@greenparty.org.uk.

Our current policies are contained in the Party’s “Policies for a Sustainable Society” which is publicly available here. The PSS is supplemented by a Record of Policy Statements that are accessible here. Our policies are based around our Philosophical Basis which is available here.

We encourage discussion and development of policy in our Policy Forum pages here (you need to be a member of the Green Party to access the Forums - join here). We are also keen to enlist the help of people with specific expertise in areas to help with writing briefs for elected representatives, our media team and for candidates. If you might be able to help, please let us know: policy@greenparty.org.uk.
